SWRO Plant Aruba

Sustainable SWRO plant on Aruba

The quality of Aruba’s drinking water is among the best in the world. Local water and energy company WEB wanted to increase its drinking water production capacity, and therefore decided to replace the obsolete MSFE plants (Multi-Stage Flash Evaporation) with a sustainable SWRO plant (Sea Water Reverse Osmosis) with a larger capacity. SWRO involves the production of drinking water from saline seawater by means of reverse osmosis. The new SWRO plant has a daily production capacity of 24,000 m3 of water – equivalent to 73% of the total current demand for water on Aruba – and also consumes 40% less energy than the old MSFE plant.
