Controlled Fish Migration Between Fresh and Coastal Waters

Controlled fish migration between fresh and coastal waters

A new fish passage at the Prommelsluis pumping station allows fish to migrate between the Oosterschelde and the fresh inland waters. The fish passage ensures a batch orientated migration of fish to and from these waters. In this way, the level of fish population for the waters of Schouwen is maintained and the WFD (water framework directive) of fish metrics is complied with. The fish passage is situated next to the existing pumping station. Together, the pumping station and the fish passage form the water-retaining construction. Iv-Water made the final design of the fish passage and carried out the seepage analysis.
