Station Lille-Europe

A terrorist-proof construction resembling a flying carpet

The TGV station in Lille has a striking design, care of Rem Koolhaas. The station is characterised by the many curved lines and the huge flying carpet shaped canopy which hovers above the station. The station is also referred to as ‘the flying carpet’. The glass canopy hovers above the structure: the columns do not directly connect to the canopy. The construction is terrorist-proof. Iv-Consult made all the main constructive and detailed calculations, the plan drawings and workshop drawings.
