Jackets of 16,000 tonnes? Not a problem for this skid beam!
How do you move from A to B gigantic jackets up to 100 metres long and weighing up to 16,000 tonnes? This was the question facing Heerema Fabrication Group. The answer? A skid beam with a total length of 150 metres and a maximum load capacity of 280 tonnes per metre. It is capable of transporting the constructed jackets to a launching pontoon, after which it is placed on the sea bottom by a crane vessel. Iv-Consult produced the design of the new skid beam at the site of Heerema Fabrication Group.
