Redevelopment of AaBe Retail Centre

Old textile mill converted into a modern retail centre

The former AaBe textile factory in Tilburg is being redeveloped to create a modern retail centre with furniture shops, hospitality establishments and neighbourhood shops. Part of this industrial heritage site has been declared a listed monument in the Netherlands. Working with Rijnboutt Architects, Iv‑Bouw turned the Statement of Requirements into a design in cooperation with Rijnboutt. Iv‑Bouw was responsible for mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, the sprinkler and fire prevention facilities, and building physics. The design had to retain as much as possible of the original factory, with building sections dating from 1930, 1941 and 1947-1954. In this way, the history of the site remained a tangible element after completion of the redevelopment.
