Sustainable Distribution Centre Lidl

Self-sufficient distribution centre

Lidl is renowned for its sustainable approach to supermarket buildings and distribution centres. At year‑end 2017, the first pile was driven into the ground for the chain’s seventh distribution centre called Lidl Overbetuwe. It will be the most sustainable distribution centre in the Netherlands. The centre received the BREEAM-NL rating of 'Outstanding' and will be partly autarkic and energy-neutral. For this project Iv-Bouw is providing installation advice and earlier examined how all of this must be accomplished on this scale, including looking at the energy supply (from wind turbines and solar panels), energy consumption (by process cooling, the offices and the distribution centre) and energy storage.
