Premier steel millennium symbol of the 20th century
The London Eye is one of London’s most eye-catching tourist attractions. The exceptional steel structure has a diameter of 120 metres, is 135 metres high, weighs 1,700 tonnes and has 32 enclosed capsules. Hollandia engaged Iv-Groep to produce the detailed design. The unique nature of the steel structure required an innovative and creative approach to engineering. Matters such as dynamics, fatigue and stability played a crucial role in the design.
