Animals can again migrate safely between nature areas
Two new Fauna Passages have been built under the N236 to increase the chances of survival of the animals in the surrounding nature areas. The Fauna Passages consist of nature-friendly embankments and four sleekly designed concrete viaducts. The canal and flood defence systems have been shifted and the N236 has been re-laid at the site of the Fauna Passages and was arranged safer, according to the Sustainable Safety Principles. For example, a roundabout, parallel road and exit have been constructed allowing cyclists to make use of a recreational cyclist connection which passes under the N236.
