Energy Factory in Zaandam-Oost

Renewable energy through sludge fermentation

By fermenting sludge and generating sustainable energy with the biogas, a sewage plant will purchase less energy. In the case of the sewage treatment plant in Zaandam-Oost, a study into the utilisation of energy and raw materials from sewage sludge showed that more energy can be generated by an optimal arrangement of the sludge streams and by increasing the sludge processing capacity of the sewage treatment plant. Iv-Water provided the preliminary and final design as well as the specification, whereby consideration was given to ATEX.
