Self-sufficient distribution centre
Lidl is renowned for its sustainable approach to supermarket buildings and distribution centres. At the end of 2017, the first pile was driven into the ground for the chain’s seventh distribution centre, Lidl Overbetuwe. It will be the most sustainable distribution centre in the Netherlands. The centre received the BREEAM-NL rating of 'Outstanding' and will be partly autarkic and energy-neutral. Iv-Bouw provided the installation advice and had earlier examined how every aspect of this project should be accomplished on such a scale. This included energy generation (through wind turbines and solar panels)), energy consumption (from process cooling, the offices and the distribution centre) and energy storage.
