Offshore substation in the Danish North Sea

RWE Renewables Denmark signed an early work agreement with HSM Offshore Energy for the offshore substation for the Thor wind farm. As a subcontractor of HSM, Iv-Offshore & Energy will be responsible for the engineering of the offshore substation in the Danish North Sea.

The Thor wind farm

The Thor wind farm will be the largest offshore wind warm in Denmark, with a planned capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW). Together with HSM Offshore Energy, we can rely on our many years of experience in the offshore renewable market and our technical knowhow about the engineering of offshore substations.

Fedor van Veen, Managing Director of Iv-Offshore & Energy: ”The Danish Thor project fits perfectly with our ambitions to be at the forefront of the energy transition. This highly efficient light weight 1000 MW substation is an example of our technical capabilities”

Iv-Offshore & Energy is involved in the early work agreement for the Thor Electrical Offshore Station (EOS). The offshore wind farm will be situated off the west coast of Denmark in the North Sea - approximately 22 kilometres from Thorsminde on the west coast of Jutland. - . Once fully operational, RWE’s Thor wind farm would be capable of producing enough green electricity to supply the equivalent of more than one million Danish households.
