TenneT Borssele Beta (HVAC) Sail-away

Last Sunday, 22nd of March 2020,  TenneT Borssele Beta High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) substation (3650-T) topside sailed-away from HSM Offshore yard, towards the wind farm in the south-west of the Dutch North Sea, where it will be installed.

TenneT TSO B.V. has awarded the contracts for both Borssele Alpha and  Beta HVAC Substations to HSM Offshore. HSM Offshore has on taken the engineering, procurement, construction, transport, installation, connection and testing of the offshore transformer station under an EPCI contract. Iv-Offshore & Energy, with whom HSM have successfully completed many previous offshore substation projects, is responsible for the design, engineering and procurement support, including the integration of the TenneT free issued High Voltage components and the balance of plant materials.
Borssele Alpha substation sailed away on 10th of May 2019 and is already successfully installed.

With this substation, the offshore grid that TenneT is developing in the Dutch North Sea is definitively taking shape.  The Borssele Beta substation will transport approximately 2.5% of the electricity used in the Netherlands from the wind farms to the main land.
